Pursuant to the State Planning and Zoning Law, the Planning Commission is responsible for long-range planning activities for the City of Manhattan Beach, including major use permits, commercial planned development permits, zone changes, code amendments, and modification to long-range planning documents, including the City’s General Plan and Local Coastal Plan. Commissioner, City of Manhattan Beach Parking & Public Improvements Commission (June 2006 – June 2008) Appointed by City Council to serve a three-year term as one of five commissioners responsible for public parking issues, capital improvement projects, traffic management, activities within the public right-of-way including encroachment permits and environmental enhancement. Served as Chairperson June 2007- May 2008. Commissioner, City of Manhattan Beach Parks & Recreation Commission (June 2005 – June 2006) Appointed by City Council to serve a three-year term as one of seven commissioners responsible for the recreational needs of all citizens and to promote supervised public recreation within the City. Committee Member, Measure BB Bond Oversight Committee (November 2008 to November 2010) Appointed by the Manhattan Beach Unified School District’s Board of Trustees to serve a two-year term as one of thirteen committee members responsible for ensuring that bond-funded projects on approved Project List are completed, external audits are conducted and that all bond measure funding is spent properly.
