Dear Neighbors, I am running for City Council because I love and value our community, and am committed to helping make it an even better place to live. As a community volunteer and City Commissioner, I’ve worked hard to protect our small town culture and resolve resident concerns. As the working parent of a young daughter, it is equally important to me that we continue to provide our children with the safety, security and strong sense of community that Manhattan Beach has always embodied. Finally, as a member of City Council, I will work with fellow Council members to address our city’s challenges, focusing on issues that matter most to our community.
Among my highest priorities, I am committed to: * Strategic Growth: limiting overdevelopment of our city, supporting and promoting small businesses, and ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency when it comes to our operating budget. * Education: collaborating with educational leaders to enhance school resources and ensure long-term, mutually beneficial financial health. * Seniors: maintaining and promoting recreational resources and security for our seniors, including upgrading our current facilities. * Environment: preserving our parks and beaches, and encouraging conservation and sustainable development. * Public Safety: providing our public safety personnel with the support they need and deserve. * Civic Participation: Encouraging greater public participation and input in government decision-making. Promoting expanded use of new media and engaging a larger number of residents in public dialogue about the issues that affect our City. I ask that you consider my experience, passion and dedication to our city, and that you examine my views on the issues that really matter to Manhattan Beach going forward – and I ask for your vote on March 8, 2011!
